Our journey began in 1823, when Delhi was not just a city, but a living, breathing tehzeeb. During the Mughal era, Shah Jahan’s daughter, Jahanara Begum, created a special marketplace in Ballimaran; a bazaar designed for women to buy items of suhaag, shringaar, and beauty. It was in this very historic lane, surrounded by poetry, culture, and royal artistry, that our ancestors from the Manihar community set up a small chudi shop.
What started as a humble shop in the narrow bylanes of Old Delhi soon became the foundation of a legacy. Generation after generation, our family preserved the traditional craft of churi-making; the colors, the textures, the delicate sound of bangles, all created with love, skill, and devotion.
As time changed, Delhi changed, dynasties changed, but one thing never changed – our craft and our commitment.
For nearly 200 years, we have crafted not just bangles, but memories, traditions, and emotions. Our bangles have added beauty to the hands of countless women. Today, our 7th generation carries this legacy forward at Babu Churi Wala GK. Every bangle is crafted with the same dedication our forefathers poured into their work in the streets of old Ballimaran.
